Matter and FE fundinfo joins forces on sustainability data

Matter integrates sustainability insights into FE fundinfo's portfolio holdings database, delivered through FE fundinfo's Data Feed Portal

London: 6 December 2023

FE fundinfo – the global leader in investment fund data and technology – has joined forces with Matter, an innovative provider of sustainability and impact data, to pioneer a collaboration that will help improve industry access to sustainability fund-level data.

The new partnership leverages FE fundinfo’s robust fund full portfolio holdings database and integrates it seamlessly with Matter's comprehensive sustainability data, both of which will be delivered through FE fundinfo’s Data Feed Portal. This agreement aims to empower distributors, platforms and investors with first-hand insights into the sustainability data dimensions of their investment portfolios.

Matter’s distinctive data points offer a tangible, real-world perspective, aligning closely with regulatory definitions and providing a broad overview of sustainability and impact metrics including data on funds’ emissions and climate commitments, SFDR and EU Taxonomy insights, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) alignment. This integration ensures that users of FE fundinfo’s Data Feed Portal can effortlessly unlock and access leading ESG and sustainability fund-level metrics provided by Matter.

The collaboration transforms the existing landscape for ESG reporting fund-level data for distributors and platforms by allowing clients to effortlessly integrate sustainability and impact data with financial data, provided by FE fundinfo.

Matter's data not only facilitates precise reporting but also empowers users to make informed decisions based on a diverse range of indicators. Fund-level data can be used for additional triangulation of other ESG data providers and for client facing reporting solutions to highlight fund level exposure to main market driving criteria.

As sustainability considerations continue to gain prominence in investment strategies, FE fundinfo and Matter’s partnership emerges as a part of our pursuit to empower our clients with multifaceted transparency on fund-level information.

Gianina Thalmann, ESG Strategic Sales Manager, FE fundinfo, said:

“We are thrilled to embark on this project with Matter. By combining our extensive fund database with Matter's rich sustainability data, we are providing our clients with a powerful tool to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of sustainable finance. This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that drive a positive impact.

“Matter's data-centric approach – incorporated into FE fundinfo’s already robust systems – ensures that users can freely choose and combine data fields from a broad range of indicators, promoting flexibility and customisation to meet the unique needs of each client.”

Niels Fibæk-Jensen, co-founder and CEO, Matter, said:

"This partnership is a testament to the shared commitment of FE fundinfo and Matter to enhance transparency, accountability, and adherence to reporting standards and regulations in the realm of sustainable finance. It follows naturally from our goal of ensuring that sustainability information is being made available wherever investors make financial decisions.

“Together with FE fundinfo, we are empowering investors to not only understand the real-world impact of their portfolios but also to contribute to a sustainable and responsible future."
